A very warm welcome to our kura for 2024!! If you are returning, welcome back, and to all of our new whānau, kaiako and tamariki, it is great to have you here as part of our kura whānau. We all really enjoyed meeting a lot of you at our Open Morning last week and staff are looking forward to the year ahead. It is always wonderful to get back to school with our tamariki especially after the long summer holidays.
The long holidays are often a good time for us to get a lot of property done around the school. Here is a list of some of the work we have had done over the holidays: replacement sun shades in the junior playground and over the swimming pool; rebuilding the stage deck in the senior school, new doors to R9 and in the admin area, asbestos removal throughout the school, replacement of damaged hall wall, internal painting in hall and admin areas, new carpet to admin and library areas, alarm upgrades and updates, plus some plumbing and electrical work. Thank you very much to our amazing caretaker Grant who always works over the summer to help with organising contractors and keeping our school looking tidy.
This year, we have three main strategic goals that we are going to be working on as a kura. The first one is to consolidate our learning around best literacy teaching practices that we started with Louise Dempsey last year. The second is to review our school wide assessment practices to ensure that our teachers are being informed in the best way possible of their students' learning needs and next steps. Our third goal is to look at culturally responsive and sustaining practices so that we are not only meeting our important obligations and commitments under Te Tiriti o Waitangi but to ensure we are being culturally responsive to all. We have based on our goals for this year on feedback from whānau, kaiako and tamariki and we are always open to further input from you all.
Kia pai tō wiki!
