I hope everyone has been enjoying the sunshine. This time last year we had been hit quite hard by bad weather with Cyclone Gabrielle forcing us to close our school which was something I had never experienced in all my years in education. Thankfully we have had a smoother start to the beginning of our school year weather wise and as we settle into the year ahead it is excellent to see our tamariki so engaged in their learning too.

We have some great events coming up over the next few weeks so please keep your eye out for information and reminders about these on Skool Loop and in our newsletters. Swimming sports for our Tuakana Team will be on Tuesday 5 March. More information will follow about this but if you have any questions please ask your child’s teacher. On Friday, 8 March from 5-8pm, our school will be hosting the special IHAD whānau event. This has traditionally been held at Tikipunga High School but this year we are super excited to be hosting it here. It is an amazing event with side show activities, kai and lots of fun things for whānau to enjoy. Hopefully, many of you will be able to come along.
On Wednesday 6 March and Thursday 7 March we will be having our Whānau Kōrero afternoons. Teachers are really looking forward to meeting with whānau to hear the goals and aspirations you may have for your tamariki at school this year. We are always so grateful that our whānau set aside the time to come along with your tamariki to our Whānau Kōrero afternoons as we can learn so much from you all. As a kura, we love to get your opinions and feedback around our teaching and learning programmes too. If you have any further suggestions around this please let our office know. Have a wonderful week everyone.
Mauri Ora!
